This next sundial is located within the grounds of Muncaster House, near Ravenglass on the coast of Cumbria.

| A POCKET
SUNDIAL The next sundial is an intriguing one. It is a portable pocket sundial which we purchased from Edinburgh Castle in April 2005. It is made by AUTHENTIC MODELS, Zeewolde, Netherlands. I imagine that it is intended as a child's educational toy, but it is very interesting never the less. With the built in compass, line up the dial with North, and the shadow cast by the string that joins the top plate to the bottom will cast the shadow onto the face of the dial and thereby tell you the time! |
