DOG SLEDDING AND SNOW SHOW
WALKING AT 'WINTERDANCE'
A long coach trip from Toronto took us nearly 300 km north to Winterdance,
the organisers of dog sledding and snow shoe walking. While the
weather in Toronto had been remarkably mild for January at between 3
and 6 Celsius and unusually snow free, the weather at Winterdance was
of the more expected freezing point with about one foot (30cms) of snow
underfoot. Even so it was still mild there, in the mountains,
compared to the expected sub-zero temperatures. (Who says that
there is no such thing as global warming?)

DOG SLEDDING
We were give detailed, and strict, instructions by Hank and his team on
how to handle the Husky dogs, and drive and steer the sledge. The
Huskies were absolutely beautiful, but they know and all they want to
do is get hitched up to the sledges - in teams of five dogs, and pull
their sledge up the hill over the crisp white snow. Each sledge,
therefore, has two people - one passenger and one to drive -
pulled by a team of five more than willing huskies.
It was brilliant and exhilarating fun!

SNOW SHOE WALKING
We also tried snow show walking around the snow laden woods. What
Fun! I was (amazingly) one of the few who did not fall over!
